I decided to do an issue on torture because the candidate of a major party supports it and because a large portion of Americans support it.
To me, if someone is not by the simple moral argument that it is wrong and should never be done, then they should be swayed by the simple fact that scientific evidence suggests that evidence obtained via torture is unreliable. I don't think it is a matter of whether or not the other person deserves it, it is a matter of whether or not any human being has a right to inflict that kind of pain and suffering upon another. I believe no human being has that right.
I also think it is sadly typical of the government to pursue such a self defeating strategy.
